Beautiful sunset in Key West Florida as seen through the rigging of a twin mast sailing ship

When it is 20 below zero in Wisconsin I cherish the memories of travel to places warmer. This shot was taken in Key West, Florida, during a sunset dinner at the Conch Republic. I am kind of glad I don’t live there as the conch dinners would make me so fat (and so broke)! This shot took a bit of experimentation to get the right exposure. I wanted everything in focus so chose an f/11 aperture and a 1/60 second shutter time to prevent any shake or blur. This ended up at a modest 800 ISO so not much noise.

This picture hangs on the wall of my office right now and is one of my favorite memories! There I was with my beautiful wife enjoying the food, a cold beer and the wonderful sunset. Makes me want to chuck it all, buy a boat and sail off to nowhere. Maybe that adventure is still ahead of me – got to be better than fighting for life in a giant corporation!
