A cloudy day is a great time to use a 50mm lens for landscapes. This shot was off the tour boat at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Typically one would use a wide angle lens for landscapes but 50mm can be a great choice. For example it gives a great field of view off a tour boat! The 50mm is also very sharp even at open aperture. This shot was at f/3.5 and gave a lot of light for the dark day. This allows both a good shutter speed (to avoid blur) and a fairly low ISO (to avoid noise).
