Just returned from a long driving tour of the Western part of the United States. 4,600 miles of driving over two weeks and amazing sights everywhere. While much of my photography was landscape and scenery I did managed to do quite a bit of portrait work. Scenery is fun but portrait work, work with people, is always my faorite.
This portrait was taken in Bend Oregon in a city park. Three young ladies enjoying fun times together. And maybe that is what I like about it – life is short so you had better have fun every day. And what more fun is there than spending time with family and friends?
Trying to travel light for the trip I only took three lenses. They were a 16-35mm for scenery, a 100-400 for close up work and a 50mm (f/1.2) for low light and PORTRAITS! This was taken with the Canon 50mm f/1.2 L. A perfect selection for a small group portrait. The 50mm L lens is noted for it’s excellent skin tones and that shows here. You can also note that I used a small amount of on camera fill flash to even out the lighting (Canon 600 speedlight).
