A blast of flame from a hot air balloon in the Neenah 4th of July light parade. This image highlights the awesome light gathering of a good 50mm lens. This was shot at f/2.0 on a f/1.4 lens. At f/2.0 th elens is gathering twice the light of an f/2.8 lens and 4 time more light than a f/4 “kit” lens. Of course I could have shot at f/1.4 and that would be twice the light as f/2 – except the Canon f/1.4 lens is a bit soft at 1.4… Now if I had my f/1.2 lens at the time I would have pulled in 1 1/3 times more light.
